Can i Travel in Train with Waitinglist or Unconfirmed Ticket? Indian railway official reply

This content going to help you to clear some of your doubts and especially foreigners who do not know about the rules ( latest covid-19 pandemic rules) please go through the content.

When you read this make sure to check out the date because the rules could be changed in future so this rule they published because of a covid-19 pandemic (posted date - 13-12-2020)

I asked the questions below to Indian railway via email so this could help you out of your doubts.

Question - 

1. can travel in a train with waitinglist or unconfirmed tickets during on departure ? 

2. My status is WL/08  what will happen if it's not confirmed during the time?

3. Will i get refund or should i cancel if its not confirmed on the date of Bording ?

INDIAN RAILWAY REPLY- 

" Kindly note that in a waitlist ticket if all the passengers remains waitlist even after chart preparation, then the customer need not to apply to IRCTC for cancellation and refund. Cancellation will be executed by the system automatically after chart preparation and refund will be credited with in 6 to 7 working days electronically in the respective account.

The passenger cannot travel with the waitlisted e-ticket if does not get confirmed/RAC after chart preparation.

Kindly note that as per Indian Railway rules in case of waitlisted ticket cancellation charges Rs. 60/- per passenger for non AC class and  Clerkage charge Rs.60 per passenger plus GST applicable for all AC Classes shall be deducted"

*} Its nothing but you can't travel with unconfirmed or waitinglist tickets even if its 2S(general compartment)  or AC or NON- AC.    ( latest covid-19 pandemic rule)

When you go to railway station they will ask you to give proper PNR NO and SEAT NO so

If your ticket is unconfirmed then you can't travel... Ofcourse you will get PNR NO while booking but sear no will get after confirmation.

*} They said if you want to cancel the ticket manually they are going to cost you rs 60 for the cancellation.for example 

If your ticket price is rs 75 

You will get only rs 15 in your account.
